Quick Overview
The Sheraton Waikiki sits oceanside in the heart of Waikiki, right next to the Royal Hawaiian. It is 20 minutes from Honolulu Airport and 15 minutes from downtown Honolulu. The rooms have been recently redesigned and feature standard hotel rooms as well as 1- and 2- bedroom suites. This hotel has all the activities and events you would expect from a resort including lei making, hula and ukulele lessons, yoga, zumba, koi fish feeding, live music, and more daily.
There are a few pools on site including an adults only infinity pool that appears to merge with the ocean and an award winning family friendly pool with waterslides and an interactive fountain. There are several restaurants on site, and if you want to get out and explore, its location lends itself to easy access to all of Waikiki.
Booking the Sheraton Waikiki with Points
The Sheraton Waikiki is a Marriott property. Marriott’s reward system uses dynamic pricing for points that varies similarly to the cash rate of a room. You may find that some nights you get more value from your points compared to the cash rate than others.
Generally speaking, you can get a room at the Sheraton Waikiki for between 53,000 and 76,000 points per night. For example, the average points rate for November 2023 is around 61,000 points and the average cash rate is $548 including taxes and the $42/night resort fee (excluding parking fees).
Booking the Sheraton Waikiki with Points: credit cards
Marriott properties can be tricky to book with points. You don’t get nearly the same value as you get with Hyatt properties. One strategy is to earn Marriott free night certificates and top them up with Marriott points. You can add up to 15,000 points per night to a 50,000 point Marriott free night certificate.

Why we love the Sheraton Waikiki
A lot of Waikiki properties get to boast fantastic locations simply by being in Waikiki, but not all of them are oceanfront. This Sheraton is directly oceanfront, nicely situated between The Royal Hawaiian and Gray’s Beach with easy access to Fort DeRussy Beach Park and Waikiki Beach.
The Sheraton Waikiki loves to let you know their Helumoa Playground Pool was voted the best pool in the nation by USA Today’s readers. And their pools are great. The adults only (ages 16+) pool is a great place to relax and unwind with incredible Diamond Head views. The freshwater family friendly pool has a lot to keep the kids entertained including a 15 foot tall, 70 foot long water slide and a smaller water slide connecting the two family pools.
There is a lot going on on-site to keep you busy between dining, activities, but you also have prime access to all of Waikiki. The best restaurants, activities, shopping, and beaches are a short walk away.
Things to know before booking the Sheraton Waikiki
High resort and parking fees are the norm for Hawaii and this resort is no exception. As of September 2023, the resort fee is $42 per night, and the parking fee is $55 per day for self-parking and $65 per day for valet.
There are quite a few pool rules to be aware of. Floatation devices (with the exception of attached ones like arm floaties or baby seat floaties) are not allowed in the pool. No outside food or drinks are allowed either, so all poolside drinks and snacks have to come from their bar. Additionally, there is no pool access or day passes for anyone not booked in a room at the resort.
The resort is oceanfront, but there isn’t much of a beach directly in front of the building. You probably won’t be bothered by this because there are great beaches on both sides of the resort and the views from the infinity pool overlooking the water are spectacular, but it is worth noting.
