Quick Overview
The Andaz Maui is the epitome of luxury. They have a full salon and spa, five gorgeous pools, and the staff provide a five star stay. Three of their pools are infinity pools overlooking the ocean. Their tranquility pool is adults only (18+), and their lagoon pool is a great family friendly place to relax or play.
Located in Wailea just in front of Mokapu Beach and walking distance to Ulua Beach, it’s just under a 15 minute walk to the Shops at Wailea and about a 30 minute drive from Kahului Airport.
The property has standard rooms and suites that can be booked with points, as well as two-, three-, and four-bedroom luxury villas. The villas have full kitchens, in-unit laundry, expansive lanais, and some even have private plunge pools or hot tubs. While their villas cannot be booked with points, they are a fantastic option to upgrade to after a few free nights from points.
Booking the Andaz Maui with Points
The Andaz Maui is a Hyatt property. Hyatt uses an award chart to determine the points needed to redeem a free night. The Andaz Maui resort is an award category 8 hotel, which means that it will cost 40,000 points for a one-night standard redemption. The points price can go down to 35,000 during off-peak times and up to 45,000 per night during peak times.
As an example, we chose a night in November where you can book a standard room for 35,000 points plus a $50 nightly resort charge. If you were to book this room in cash, you’d pay $1,613 per night including all of the taxes and fees.
Booking the Andaz Maui with Points
Depending on how many nights you want to book for free and how long in advance you have to plan, I’d start with two cards to get at least three nights free at the resort.
Why we love the Andaz Maui
The staff is absolutely delightful and the restaurants happily cater to dietary restrictions. Guests with celiac have enjoyed wonderful gluten-free meals at the restaurants, and the staff has no qualms about accommodating vegans, vegetarians, or other diets.
This is a pet-friendly hotel. Most people don’t travel to Hawaii with pets because there are a lot of hoops to jump through, so most accommodations are not pet-friendly. We lived in Hawaii with our little dog Hattie, and it was always a struggle to find a nice place to stay when we would visit other islands, so it’s always nice to know of pet-friendly lodging, no matter where you’re coming from.
The location is wonderful. It is walking distance to much of what you need in Wailea, including the Shops at Wailea, great restaurants, and phenomenal beaches. Ulua beach makes our list of the best beaches on Maui, and it is a short walk away via a walking path that connects a long stretch of the Wailea resorts and beaches along the shore.
Things to know before booking the Andaz Maui
Resort and parking fees are to be expected with any Hawaii accommodations. As of September 2023 the Andaz Maui charges a $50 nightly resort fee and a $50 daily valet only parking fee.
A lot of families with kids stay here, so it can get loud, particularly in common areas. This may not be the best fit if you prefer a more adult vibe, but chances are you won’t be bothered as there are a lot of areas, like the spa or the adults-only pool, that will provide a mellower environment.
